Are you actually registered and insured, or just claiming it?
We keep it ready precisely because people ask. Momentum Movers carries active South Carolina registration as a household-goods carrier along with cargo coverage on every load. HOA offices and historic-district property managers ask for a certificate of insurance often enough that ours never needs advance notice, and the coverage is the same whether the job is a one-bedroom apartment or a full haul to Columbia.
Do you charge by the hour, or quote a flat number?
Both feed into each other. We start from an hourly rate, then convert that into a single total for the whole crew and truck before a box gets carried out, so the clock isn't working against you once the job starts. A lot of phone estimates from competitors balloon the moment Ravenel Bridge traffic gets involved; we account for that ahead of time instead. If a job runs long, that overage comes out of our margin, not your wallet.
My street south of Calhoun Street is alley-access only, can your truck even reach it?
Most of the time, and Silas's crew ends up on the majority of those calls. A lane too narrow for a full-size truck gets planned around with a smaller shuttle vehicle well ahead of time, rather than discovered with a truck wedged at the corner. Parking permits and any building sign-off get handled before moving day, never as a last-minute scramble.
What about a marsh-front lot on James Island or Johns Island, does soft ground change the plan?
It can, which is why we ask about it on the first call. Reggie checks tidal conditions and ground access ahead of time so the truck parks somewhere that can actually hold its weight, instead of sinking into a driveway after a rainy week. That check is built into your written number, not billed separately afterward.
We're moving on PCS orders out of Joint Base Charleston, can you work with a government timeline?
Regularly. Tobias treats a military move date as a fixed point on the schedule, the same way he treats bridge traffic, something to build around rather than complain about. Government paperwork and a narrow window are routine here, and we've handled enough Joint Base Charleston families to know exactly how little slack those dates leave.
My closing date got pushed back, can you hold my things until it's sorted out?
Often, yes, closing delays send us this question all the time. Odessa sets up a storage unit sized to what you actually own, billed month to month, usually around half off the first one. When your new place is finally ready, the same crew that packed you shows up to deliver it.
What does valuation coverage actually protect?
There are two tiers. Released value comes standard at no extra cost and pays sixty cents per pound per item, fine for heavier furniture but thin protection for anything valuable. Full-value protection, the upgrade, runs roughly one to three percent of your declared shipment value and includes up to $1 million in cargo coverage. Tell us roughly what's in the load and we'll point you to whichever tier fits.
When do I actually pay?
Not until the last box is off the truck and set where you want it, nothing changes hands before that. Cash, check, or card, whichever is easiest for you. Because Mara locked your number in before the truck left the yard, there's no recalculating at the end, you pay the figure you already agreed to.
Need to push back my move date, or worried a different crew shows up instead?
On dates: call or text the moment your plans shift. Our calendar moves constantly because of closing delays and PCS reschedules, so reasonable notice comes with no fee. On the crew: every truck carries the Momentum Movers name, and every mover on it is someone we hired and trained. Nobody hands your job to another company, and the person who quoted you is usually one of the faces at your door that morning.
